CROSSVILLE FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO IRIS CIRCLE CAMPER FIRE

Crossville Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire and reports of explosions occurring in the area of Iris Circle today around 9 a.m.

Upon arriving, firefighters observed a camper on fire. The occupied camper was being used as a permanent residence by two people. Thankfully, the two were able to escape. One of the occupants was checked for smoke inhalation but refused treatment.

The fire took about 20 minutes and 1,500 gallons of water to extinguish, with firefighters staying on scene for roughly one hour.

Firefighters quickly determined that the reports of explosions were due to the camper’s rubber tires blowing.

The camper was unfortunately completely lost, with some heat damage to the vinyl siding of adjacent homes.

Crossville Fire Chief Chris South said the type of camper involved in the fire is a type that burns very quickly. The cause of the fire is unknown but believed to be accidental.
