LOCAL WOMAN SCAMMED FOR $450 BY HACKED FACEBOOK ACCOUNT

Last week, patrol officer Tristan Wright with the Crossville Police Department responded to a call regarding a theft. Upon arriving, the officer spoke with the victim who said that she thought she was buying a lawn mower from a local man.

She saw a post of him selling several items, one of which was a lawn mower. After messaging the account, they wanted a $450 deposit to hold it.

After paying the deposit, she asked to see the lawn mower in person and finish paying for it. However, the account ended up blocking her.

The victim knew the family and went to see them, however, the person’s mother and sister told the victim that the account was hacked and was not actually his account.

The victim needed a report to get a refund from her bank and advised Officer Wright that she would like to press charges against the person who hacked the account if they were local but was not worried about it if the person was far away.
