UPDATE:

The suspect currently in a standoff with THP on Interstate 40 was also involved in a shooting at Hutchinson Plant in Livingston earlier today.

Two people were injured, and have been taken to the hospital. According to officials, the suspect was a former employee of the plant.

ROCKWOOD, Tenn. (WVLT) – I-40 East near Rockwood has closed for “law enforcement activity,” according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

According to a Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office representative, the interstate has been closed because of a stand-off with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. CCSO added that they were not asked to respond to the situation itself.

As of 9:30 a.m. Friday, the interstate closed near the 342-mile marker. WVLT News reached out to THP for more information.
