MONDAY VEHICLE ON FIRE TURNED OUT TO BE STOLEN

Yesterday, we reported on a vehicle fire on Bear Creek Road. However, new information unveiled via Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office report shows that the vehicle that was on fire was in fact stolen.

Deputy Ethan Wilson of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Bear Creek Road for a vehicle fire and saw no one was around the vehicle. After running the tag through dispatch, they found the tag was not on file and it’s history showed the vehicle registered to a 45-year-old man from Crossville.

Deputies attempted to make contact with the man but we’re initially unable to. Later the owner of the vehicle called in wanting to report his vehicle stolen.

Contact was made with the vehicle owner and he was asked who might have stolen his car and burned it, however the man did not know. He said all he did know was that he left his home and when he came back he found his 2001 Chevy Tahoe missing from the driveway.

Deputies Wilson and Charles came back later that night to speak with a man who said that he knows who stole his vehicle but felt the guy who did it “would respect him more” if he didn’t speak with law enforcement.

Other than that, no known suspects at this time, and no charges filed.
