ROCKWOOD FIRE RESPONDS TO NELSON STREET A.C. SMOKE REPORT

BBBTV12 – The Rockwood Fire Department responded to a report of smoke inside a home on the 500 block of East Nelson Street Tuesday evening. The call came in just before 6:00 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the smoke was coming from a heating and air conditioning unit.
As part of their mutual aid agreement, the Rockwood Fire Department paged the Harriman Fire Department for assistance. However, Harriman crews were turned back while en route after the situation was assessed.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and firefighters remained on the scene for about 20 minutes to investigate and ensure the home was safe.
Amid this recent stretch of bitterly cold weather, it is encouraging to report that no major house fires have occurred in the area.
Local fire departments remind residents to stay vigilant by checking the batteries in their smoke detectors and ensuring their heating systems are in good working condition. Preventative measures can go a long way in keeping your home and family safe during the winter months.
