WARRANT SERVICE TURNS INTO DRUG ARREST

Yesterday Deputy Caleb Charles traveled to Lawson Road to serve a local warrant on John Kelley. The homeowner allowed the deputy inside and he made contact with Kelley in a basement bedroom.

While telling Kelley of his warrants and attempting to identify other female occupants in the room with him, Kelley reached inside his hoodie pocket, retrieved a small tin foil ball, and then opened the bedroom door and threw it into the bedroom in front of the bed between the door.

The deputy then grabbed Kelley, who resisted for a second and then was pulled away from the doorway so the deputy could retrieve the tin foil ball. Upon retrieving the ball, the deputy noticed a digital scale and another tin foil packet on the floor on the other side of the bed.

The women in the bedroom with him said they had just given him a ride from somewhere and we’re still there to spend time and hang out. The homeowner said she had no idea who the women were or what they were doing in her home. The women were identified and told to leave due to not having any other business.

Kelley was taken into custody and transported to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office intake where he was served with his local warrant.

The foil ball Kelley tried to get rid of contained a brown powdery substance believed to be fentanyl weighing around .85 g, and the foil packet located on the floor contained 0.25 g of fentanyl.
