WOMAN RECEIVES MASSIVE BILLS DUE TO A TINY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER MISTAKE

On Friday last week, Deputy Joshua Alderman spoke with a woman about identity theft. The woman said she keeps receiving a bill from Columbia Gas of Ohio for around $1,162 and another bill from US Bank for $5,634.
The woman said that the person who opened these accounts did not provide a correct social security number, off by one digit. She told the deputies that she was going to contact a lawyer and dispute the charges under her name.
Collection companies were sending letters to her for debt but stopped after she called and disputed it as identity theft.
No suspects have been apprehended and no charges have been filed.
