CITY OF OAK RIDGE TO HOLD COMPREHENSIVE PLAN VIRTUAL MEETING FEB. 19

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (Feb. 10, 2024) – Oak Ridgers interested in helping craft the City’s next comprehensive plan, recently named Oak Ridge 2045: A Century of Heritage, A Future of Promise, are encouraged to attend a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, at 6 p.m.

Oak Ridge 2045 will serve as the City’s roadmap for the next 20 years. The City Council, Planning Commission, and City Staff will use the Plan to make important land use, budgeting, and development decisions.

The meeting, which is the first of many citywide opportunities to weigh in, will begin at 6 p.m. and last about an hour. Participants can expect to view a presentation about the planning process and how to get involved. The opportunity for questions will be available following the presentation. Participants can also enter comments and questions in the chat throughout the meeting to be read and answered at the end.

“Getting people engaged is key to a great plan. We hope to make it as easy as possible since it’s virtual and you can participate from anywhere,” Planning & Development Director Wayne Blasius said. “We will continue to provide more opportunities for people to be engaged as we put this plan together.”

This Comprehensive Plan update will include specific implementation steps and expand the existing City Blueprint to help guide decisions related to future land use, neighborhood planning, five small focus areas, transportation and infrastructure, and redevelopment and infill opportunities.

“State law requires the Planning Commission to adopt a comprehensive plan,” Oak Ridge Planning Commission Chair Steve Whitson said. “I look forward to getting the community more involved in the process so we can create a great plan for Oak Ridge 2045 together.”
