MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER CRASH ON BURGESS DRIVE

On March 30, 2025, Deputy Holden Atkinson responded to an iPhone crash detection alert on Burgess Drive in Cumberland County, Tennessee. Upon arriving, he encountered a group of people partying and asked them about the crash. A man identified as Gustavo Trejo approached the deputy and initially claimed he had loaned his Jeep to a friend who crashed it, but later admitted he was the driver. Gustavo confessed to driving drunk, stating he wanted to have fun, and had run off the road, hitting a tree before fleeing the scene.
Deputy Atkinson arrested Gustavo, placing him in handcuffs, and located the crashed black Jeep Wrangler, which had gone through a barbed wire fence and struck a tree, causing significant damage including a bent tire and leaking antifreeze. Gustavo declined medical treatment. The deputy noted signs of intoxication, including the smell of alcohol on Gustavo’s breath, unsteadiness, slurred speech, and bloodshot eyes. Due to safety concerns, no field sobriety test was conducted.
Gustavo was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and taken to Cumberland County Jail for booking. A blood draw warrant was granted, and two vials of blood were collected at the Cumberland County Medical Facility by medical personnel.
