PASSENGER FLEES ON FOOT AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

On April 27, 2025, Deputy Devyne Templeton of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol when he observed a Maroon GMC vehicle failing to maintain its lane, a traffic violation that prompted a traffic stop. However, before the stop could be formally conducted, the vehicle made an abrupt maneuver, pulling into the driveway of a residence located on POW Camp Road.
As the vehicle came to a stop in the driveway, Deputy Templeton noted the passenger door opening swiftly. The passenger, later identified as Brad Demetro, exited the vehicle and immediately began fleeing on foot toward the rear of the property. Deputy Templeton recognized Demetro as an individual with several outstanding warrants.
Deputy Templeton exited his patrol unit and began pursuit, issuing multiple verbal commands for Demetro to stop. Demetro continued to flee, ignoring the deputy’s orders. As Deputy Templeton closed the distance during the foot chase, he presented his Taser, and upon using the Taser, it caused Demetro to slow down, at which point he began to comply with the deputy’s commands.
With Demetro now cooperative, Deputy Templeton was able to safely approach and place him in double-locking restraints and transported him to Cumberland County Intake.
Demetro faces charges including violation of probation, resisting stop/frisk, domestic assault, and child support obligations, with court dates set for May 5, 2025, and bonds totaling $3,500 for applicable charges.
