FORMER ROCKWOOD DETECTIVE GETS NEW TRIAL DATE

A new trial date will be set for former Rockwood Police Department detective Charles Crothers, according to the federal court in Knoxville handling his case. Crothers faces charges of attempted solicitation of a minor and attempted production of child pornography.
The charges stem from an incident in September when Crothers, expecting to attend a court session related to a case he was working on, was arrested at the Knoxville District Court. He has been held at the Laurel County Jail in London, Kentucky, since his arrest.
Crothers’ attorney requested a continuance for the original June 24 trial date, which U.S. District Judge Debra Poplin has granted, citing the need for more time as additional potential victims may come forward. Updates on the case and the new trial date will be provided as more information becomes available.
