MAN LEADS CROSSVILLE POLICE ON CHASE DOWN MAIN STREET CROSSVILLE

On May 29, 2025, a Silver Chevrolet Silverado was spotted at Car Spa on North Main Street after a BOLO from Knox County for fleeing a traffic stop. Officers, including Sptl. Grant and Lt. South, contacted the driver, Steven Wayne Sherrill, who refused to speak and attempted to leave without a seatbelt.
When Sgt. Mangas tried to stop him, Sherrill fled north on Main Street, ignoring emergency lights and sirens. A pursuit followed, with Sherrill driving recklessly at speeds of 60-80 mph, passing vehicles, running stop signs, and endangering the public.
City units ceased pursuit, but county units continued as Sherrill reached over 100 mph on the interstate. His vehicle was spiked at exit 322, leading to an accident on Chestnut Hill Road, where he was apprehended. EMS cleared him on-site, and his vehicle, with expired registration, was towed.
Sherrill was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on a revoked/suspended license, seatbelt violation, and expired registration.
