OVER 1.1 MILLION POWER BANKS RECALLED FOR FIRE HAZARD

Anker Innovations Limited has issued a recall for approximately 1,158,000 Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks (model A1263) due to a risk of the lithium-ion battery overheating, which poses fire and burn hazards. The recalled power banks, identifiable by the “Anker” engraving on the front and the model number “A1263” and serial number on the bottom, were sold online at Anker, Amazon, Newegg, and eBay from June 2016 to December 2022 for about $27.
Consumers should immediately stop using the affected power banks and visit https://www.anker.com/product-recalls to verify if their unit is included and register for a free replacement. To receive a replacement, consumers must submit a photo of the power bank with the model number, serial number, their name, the date, and the word “recalled” written on it, and confirm proper disposal according to local regulations.
Anker has reported 19 incidents of fires and explosions, including two minor burn injuries and 11 cases of property damage totaling over $60,700. For assistance, consumers can contact Anker toll-free at 800-988-7973, via email at [email protected], or through the company’s website or live chat. Recalled batteries should not be disposed of in regular trash or recycling but at a municipal household hazardous waste collection center after confirming acceptance.
