In March, Deputy Gary Nelson saved a Harriman Middle School student’s life by performing six cycles of the Heimlich maneuver. Today, at the Tennessee Association of School Resource Officers Conference in Pigeon Forge, he was honored with the President’s Award for his heroic actions and for going above and beyond the call of duty.
