The Roane County Commission is scheduled to pass the fiscal year budget on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. during a special called session of the commission and budget committee at the courthouse in Kingston. The budget committee will meet prior to this on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the courthouse to finalize the proposed budget.

County officials report no last-minute surprises, and the budget committee is prepared to forward the budget to the county commission for approval. Due to higher property values from this year’s reappraisal cycle, the property tax rate is expected to decrease significantly, with a proposed rate of $1.49 per $100 of assessed value for residents outside city limits and approximately $1.45 per $100 of assessed value for those within city limits.

The public is welcome to attend the budget committee meeting on June 23 and the special session on June 26.
