DETAILS ON FRIDAY’S CRASH ON LANTANA AND KEARNEY

On July 18, 2025, at approximately 5:59 PM, a vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Lantana Rd. and Kearney Dr. in Crossville, Tennessee, as detailed in a Crossville Police Department crash report.
The incident involved two vehicles: Vehicle 1, driven by 41-year-old Joshua Watson of Pikeville, Tennessee, and Vehicle 2, driven by 34-year-old Samantha Howard of Crossville, Tennessee. Watson, operating a vehicle without insurance, was traveling east on Lantana Rd. and attempted a left turn onto Kearney Dr., believing he had sufficient time to complete the maneuver. Howard, traveling west in the leftmost lane, was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with Watson’s vehicle.
Both drivers reported injuries; Howard was transported to Cumberland Medical Center by EMS for suspected serious injuries, while Watson, reporting possible injuries, declined transport. A witness, Kaula Thompson, confirmed that Watson turned too soon, causing the collision. Watson was issued a misdemeanor citation for lacking insurance.
Both drivers were wearing shoulder and lap belts, with no airbag deployment, and neither was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The report, filed by Officer Sherrill, noted Watson’s failure to yield the right of way as a contributing factor.
