FEMALE INMATES IN MCMINN COUNTY COMPLETE O.S.H.A. CERTIFICATION

From McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy:

More success and opportunities happening in our jail:
Several female inmates have completed OSHA Certification, placing them a step closer to employment upon release. We are proud of these ladies!
OSHA is a 10 hour course that adult education assists in teaching and conducting in our jail.
These inmates/students meet with the instructor once a week until their class hours and tests are completed, which takes about 2-4 weeks.
During this class the inmates/students develop knowledge of OSHA work safety, blood borne pathogens, proper PPE and safe use of chemicals along with learning how to prevent accidents and preventing/controlling harmful situations.
At the end of this class the inmates/students receive a certificate of completion and a hard copy of an OSHA certifcation card for them to carry and present to jobs that they apply for when they released.
They also receive interviewing tips, dress code tips, website links for job applications and resume guides to help them along the way.
We wish these ladies all the continued success, and hope this good decision leads to more positive life choices.
We also appreciate our Inmate Programs Coordinator Kayla Crowder for all her hard work, and our great partnerships with McMinn Education Foundation/Adult Education.
