OVER 600,000 FRIGIDAIRE MINIFRIDGES RECALLED; FIRE HAZARD

On July 24, 2025, a recall was issued for approximately 634,000 Frigidaire-brand minifridges, models EFMIS129, EFMIS137, EFMIS149, and EFMIS175, due to a fire and burn hazard caused by internal electrical components that can short circuit and ignite the surrounding plastic housing. The affected units, identified by specific serial numbers, were sold in 6- and 9-can sizes and various colors at Walmart and other retailers, as well as online at Walmart.com and Amazon.com, from January 2020 to December 2023 for $36 to $40.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled minifridges, unplug and cut the power cord, mark “Recall” on the front, and dispose of the units per local regulations while following instructions at www.recallrtr.com/minifridge for a refund. Curtis International Ltd. has received 26 reports of incidents, including smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating, and fires, resulting in over $700,000 in property damage and two cases of smoke inhalation injuries.
