CROSSVILLE RESIDENT REPORTS MYSTERIOUS BLOOD FOUND ON TRASH CONTAINER

On August 5, 2025, at approximately 1:10 PM, Deputy Ed Wozniak responded to a report of a suspicious incident and property damage at Saponac Dr in Crossville, TN. The complainant, a 56-year-old resident, reported that sanitation employees noticed what appeared to be fresh blood on the front of her trash container, which was set out for pickup.
Upon inspection, Deputy Wozniak observed drying blood covering an 18-by-12-inch area on the upper front of the container, with some blood and splashes on the roadway, likely from the container being emptied into the garbage truck. No blood was found inside the container, and a search of the surrounding area provided no clues about the source. Wozniak opined that the blood was likely splashed onto the container using a brush or mop-like device.
The complainant noted ongoing issues and threats from one of her daughter’s friends, suggesting the blood could be a possible warning. No witnesses were identified, and the sanitation company agreed to replace the damaged container, valued at $50.
The incident was classified as vandalism.
