BBBTV12 – Rockwood, TN – A LifeStar medical helicopter landed on Highway 27 near the intersection of Mountain View Road Tuesday afternoon to transport an injured man following a side-by-side ATV accident.

The crash occurred just before 4 p.m., involving a 72-year-old male on Mountain View Road. Roane County EMS requested air transport, and around 4:15 p.m. traffic in both directions on Highway 27 was stopped to allow the helicopter to land. Rockwood Police, sheriff’s deputies, and other emergency personnel assisted in securing the scene.

The victim, who was reported to be responsive and alert at the time, was flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Authorities said no other vehicles were believed to be involved in the accident.
