ALMOST 3 MILLION ATTIC FAN MOTORS RECALLED FOR FIRE HAZARD

On August 28, 2025, Air Vent Inc. announced a recall of approximately 2.9 million electric motors used in gable- and roof-mounted attic fans due to a safety cutoff issue that may cause short circuits and pose a fire hazard. The affected motors, sold exclusively between August 2003 and December 2013 under model numbers DOW-136-0-34-XIN, DOW-136-0-26-XIN, DOW-136-0-40-XIN, DOW-136-0-40-XIN-3/4”, and D-RE-PSC-127/20-4P1SP, can be identified by a distinctive vent pattern on the motor end bells.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using these motors and contact Air Vent toll-free at 877-247-4878 or online at https://powermaxmotorrecall.expertinquiry.com or https://gibraltarbuildingproducts.com/ventilation-category/ to register for a refund by submitting photos for verification.

The company has received 159 reports of incidents involving burning or fire, but no injuries have been reported. These motors were sold at stores like ABC Supply, Lowe’s, and Beacon, both in-store and online, for $74 to $92. The motors were manufactured in China and distributed by Air Vent Inc. of Dallas, Texas, under recall number 25-451 as a Fast Track Recall.
