OVER 764,000 RYOBI PRESSURE WASHERS RECALLED; BURST HAZARD, 32 INJURED

On August 28, 2025, a recall was issued for approximately 764,000 Ryobi brushless electric pressure washers (models RY142300 and RY142711VNM) due to a hazardous defect where the capacitor can overheat and burst, forcefully ejecting parts and posing a serious risk of impact injury to users or bystanders.

The affected units, sold at Home Depot, Direct Tools Factory Outlet, and online at homedepot.com and directtoolsoutlet.com from July 2017 to June 2024 for $300 to $400, have specific serial number ranges listed on the recall notice. TTI Outdoor Power Equipment has reported 135 incidents of overheating capacitors, including 41 explosions, resulting in 32 injuries, such as fractures to fingers, hands, face, and eyes.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled pressure washers and visit https://www.ryobitools.com/recall to verify if their unit is affected and to obtain a free repair kit, which includes a replacement capacitor and installation instructions. No proof of purchase is required.
