FENTRESS DEPUTIES ARREST PHILLIP HOPE FOR HOMICIDE
From the Fentress County Sheriff’s Office:
On the evening of September 24th, deputies were dispatched to Old Turnpike Road after receiving a call about a possible deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Stephen Joe Hicks had died from injuries sustained during an altercation.
A witness at the scene identified Phillip Hope as the suspect involved. Deputies, working in coordination with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), began an immediate search and later located Mr. Hope at a residence on Gatewood Trail. He was taken into custody without incident. The weapon believed to have been used in the assault was also recovered.
Mr. Hope was transported to the Fentress County Justice Center, and is currently being held on charges of criminal homicide.
The Fentress County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
