DETAILS ON SATURDAY WRECK ON HIGHLAND LANE IN CROSSVILLE

On October 4, 2025, at approximately 9:43 PM, Deputy Ethan Wilson responded to a vehicle accident with injury at Highland Lane in Crossville. Upon arrival, he observed a black Chevy truck that had crashed into a rock pile in the driveway, with the driver, identified as Gregory McCarthy (58, white male), bleeding from a head injury.
A woman present at the scene reported that Gregory had been drinking and refused to let her drive, leading to the accident after she began walking. Deputy Wilson noted a strong odor of alcohol, red watery eyes, and slurred speech from Gregory, but due to his medical condition and transport to Cumberland Medical Center, field sobriety tests were not conducted.
EMS stabilized Gregory with a C-collar and sternum rub, during which he became alert. Deputy Wilson obtained a search warrant for Gregory’s blood, and two vials were collected at the hospital, where an earlier blood draw indicated a blood alcohol level of approximately 0.269. The blood samples were placed into evidence for TBI lab analysis.
A warrant for Gregory’s arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) was issued, to be served later due to his medical treatment. Gregory was charged with DUI, with a court date set for October 27, 2025, and a bond of $1,500.
