KINGSTON ESTABLISHES $1 FEE TO WATER ACCOUNTS WITH CELLULAR READ METERS

Members of the Kingston City Council and city staff met on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall for their monthly city council meeting. Mayor Tim Neal was absent, so Vice Mayor Lucy Johnson chaired the meeting, with all members present except Tommy Gwynn. City Manager David Boling was also out of town but watched the meeting remotely from his location.
Under old business, the council considered establishing a technology fee to be applied to Kingston Water Department customer accounts for cellular read meter capabilities, which was approved. The fee would add only $1 to the bills of those customers who opt for the latest technology attached to their meters.
Under new business, the Kingston Council approved a resolution authorizing the city to participate in the Cybersecurity Partners Matching Grant Program, as well as a resolution authorizing participation in the James L. Richardson Driver Matching Grant Program, which assists those sent to court on traffic violations by making it easier for them to comply. The council also approved moving their next city council meeting to Monday, November 10th, instead of the regular second Tuesday, due to the observance of Veterans Day on Tuesday the 11th.
