OAK RIDGE MAN’S CHARGES UPGRADED TO 1ST-DEGREE MURDER

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (Oct. 17, 2025) – The Oak Ridge Police Department has amended charges against Jacob Paul Yugo, 34, of Oak Ridge, to first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence following an assault that occurred Friday afternoon, Oct. 10.
Just after 4 p.m. that day, officers responded to a report of an assault on East Newkirk Lane. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to an area hospital.
The victim, Candace Yugo, succumbed to her injuries on the evening of October 15, 2025.
Following the initial investigation, Jacob Yugo, who is the victim’s son, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. He remains held at the Anderson County Detention Facility.
