ONE DEAD AND ONE CHARGED IN TANSI HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION

Crossville, TN –  An investigation is underway after a deceased individual was found murdered during a welfare check.

On November 3, 2025, Cumberland County 911 received a call requesting a welfare check be conducted on Linda Spivey, age 76, residing at 7119 Big Horn Drive.  Lake Tansi Police were dispatched to the residence and found Ms. Spivey deceased.  Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence at approximately 9:07 P.M., secured the scene, and contacted investigators.

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Investigators, Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and members of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.   The investigation proceeded, and a primary suspect, Kenneth Spivey, age 59, of Wala Wala Trail, became the focus of the investigation, in which it was believed that he had committed the murder of Linda Spivey. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Kenneth Spivey has been charged with First Degree Murder and remains incarcerated at the Cumberland County Jail on a $1,000,000.00 bond awaiting the court date on December 8, 2025. The victim will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville, Tennessee, for autopsy, and all evidence will be analyzed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional releases will be provided as information becomes available.  At this time, there is no other information available for release.
