KINGSTON MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER CRASH; BLAMES MYSTERY STRANGER

According to a report by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, on October 31, 2025, at approximately 6:05 PM, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Caleb Cathey responded to a reported vehicle wreck with possible injuries on Golliher Road in Rockwood. Upon arrival, deputies located a red Chevy that had driven off the roadway into an embankment.
The sole occupant, 68-year-old Stanley Peter Kusy of Kingston, TN, exhibited a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and erratic behavior, initially expressing gratitude and religious blessings before becoming hostile. Kusy claimed he was not driving and that an unidentified white male stranger—picked up at a liquor store and described vaguely as a possible drug user—had been operating the vehicle before fleeing into the woods after the crash.
However, Kusy’s story changed repeatedly, he admitted to consuming wine earlier, and dispatch confirmed his license was revoked due to a prior DUI with an ignition interlock requirement. Kusy’s spouse confirmed they argued after he began drinking, and he left intoxicated in her vehicle. According to the report, he resisted arrest, and directed profanities at deputies.
Kusy was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving on Revoked/Suspended License, and Violation of Ignition Interlock Device.
