CUMBERLAND MAYOR FOSTER HONORS THOSE WHO SERVED AT VETERANS DAY CEREMONY

Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster delivered remarks at the county’s Veterans Day ceremony, expressing deep gratitude to the Veterans Service Office staff (Wendy and Katie), Parks and Recreation employees, and volunteers who organized the event, with special recognition for Mark Pfaffenroth for filling staffing gaps at the VSO.
He reflected on the county’s blessings of freedom, faith, and community, emphasizing that freedom is never free and quoting President Ronald Reagan: “Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world. A veteran does not have that problem.”
Foster honored all veterans for their profound impact—whether in combat, support roles, wartime, or peacetime—and stressed the importance of supporting veterans and their families through opportunities and education for future generations.
He also thanked his friend and U.S. Congressional candidate Van Hilleary for serving as the keynote speaker. Concluding his message, the mayor extended heartfelt thanks to all veterans for their service, sacrifice, and example, and offered blessings for veterans, Cumberland County, and the United States of America.
