ENTIRE DRIVEWAY STOLEN FROM CHATTANOOGA HOUSE
In October 2024, Chattanooga realtor Paige Batten bought a house to flip and listed it for sale over the summer. One Friday, prospective buyers called her, excited to make an offer but confused about the driveway, asking when she planned to “finish” it. Batten quickly realized something was wrong when she drove by and discovered the entire concrete driveway and front porch had completely vanished.
Neighbors reported seeing multiple trucks—a dump truck, a truck pulling a trailer, and two king-cab trucks hauling backhoes—on the property from about 9:00 a.m. to just after 11:00 a.m. that day. Many assumed Batten had hired the crew to replace the driveway and even recalled hearing heavy equipment that sounded like a bulldozer.
When Batten contacted police and showed them photos, even the dispatcher was stunned. She believes the workers simply had the wrong address and mistakenly ripped out and hauled away her perfectly good concrete driveway and porch.
Replacing it will cost her nearly $12,000, so she is publicly asking whoever did the work to come forward and take responsibility for the bizarre mistake rather than leave her to foot the bill.
