TWO ACCIDENTS WITHOUT INJURY ON I-40 WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER

On the afternoon of November 20, 2025, just before 4:30 PM, a minor motor vehicle accident unfolded on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 at mile marker 305.5. The incident involved a FedEx box truck that lost control due to hydroplaning amid likely wet or slick road conditions, veering sharply into the median and ultimately flipping onto its side in a dramatic but contained rollover.
The driver, identified as Jacob Turrington from Tennessee, emerged unscathed from the overturned vehicle, having been properly secured by his seatbelt. No charges were filed against Turrington, and the scene was managed efficiently, with no reported injuries.
Merely half an hour later, at approximately 4:58 PM on the same stretch of I-40 westboundβ€”this time at mile marker 322 beneath the Cook Road underpass. A silver or grey GMC Acadia SUV succumbed to the same hazardous hydroplaning conditions, sliding off course and colliding with a roadside guardrail in a jarring but low-impact impact.
The vehicle’s operator, Sarah Hazelton of Tennessee, drove the still-operational Acadia a short distance to Stone Memorial High School’s parking area to await the arrival of law enforcement for an official report. Like the earlier incident, Hazelton was wearing her seatbelt, suffered no apparent harm, and faced no citations.
