T.H.P. TO INTENSIFY ROAD SAFETY EFFORTS DURING THANKSGIVING TRAVEL PERIOD

State and local law enforcement agencies in Tennessee, led by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), are intensifying efforts to ensure road safety during the 2025 Thanksgiving travel period after eight people were killed in crashes during last year’s holiday season, including two who were not wearing seatbelts.

To prevent fatalities, THP troopers will be stationed every 20 miles along interstates on Wednesday and Sunday, November 30, with a strong focus on enforcement and public awareness. Officials are urging all drivers to buckle up, slow down, and avoid distractions, emphasizing the simple message: “Check your speed, put your phone away and always ensure every passenger is restrained.”

The THP’s primary goal is zero fatalities this Thanksgiving, and travelers experiencing issues on the road are encouraged to dial *847 (*THP) for immediate assistance from a dispatcher.
