STOLEN TRUCK FROM JACKSON COUNTY FOUND IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

On November 27, 2025, Deputy Tyler Leary of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of squatters at a residence located on Highway 70 North. Upon arrival, he observed lights on inside the home and a 1998 green Chevrolet pickup truck parked beside it. A VIN check through dispatch revealed the truck had been reported stolen out of Jackson County.

Deputy Leary and Corporal Elijah Tollett obtained keys from the property owner, announced themselves as law enforcement, and entered the residence with weapons drawn. They located two occupants in a bedroom: Heather Brady and Winfred Gerald Selby. Both individuals were briefly handcuffed, advised of their Miranda rights by Deputy Aidyn Smith, and agreed to provide voluntary statements.

Jackson County authorities assumed control of the case since the vehicle was stolen within their jurisdiction. A Jackson County detective responded, and their deputies took Brady and Selby into custody, transported them to Jackson County, and arranged for the stolen 1998 Chevrolet pickup to be towed and returned to its owner.
