ANDERSON DEPUTY INDICTED FOR ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO SELL A STOLEN CROSSBOW

In Clinton, Tennessee, former Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Whitney B. Davis, 31, has been indicted on one count of official misconduct (a Class E felony) and one count of theft of property valued at $1,000 or less (a Class A misdemeanor) after allegedly keeping a stolen crossbow she recovered during her official duties and attempting to sell it.
The case, investigated by the Clinton Police Department, was presented to an Anderson County Grand Jury, which returned the indictment. Davis’ employment with the sheriff’s office ended prior to the indictment. She was booked into the Anderson County Detention Facility on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on January 5, 2026.
District Attorney General Dave Clark emphasized the higher standard expected of law enforcement while noting that defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and praised both the sheriff’s office and Clinton Police Department for holding their personnel accountable.
