WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES EXPAND ACROSS EAST AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE
A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for Morgan and Anderson counties from 7 PM Thursday until 7 AM EST Friday as a round of mixed wintry precipitation moves across the region. Forecasters expect up to 1 inch of snow along with a light glaze of ice, mainly across the northern Cumberland Plateau and parts of the northern Tennessee Valley near the Virginia border. Roadways may turn slick quickly, and both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes could be affected.
A separate advisory will cover Pickett County, along with Clay and Jackson counties, from 8 PM Thursday to 6 AM CST Friday. This area is also expected to see a mix of snow and light ice, with snow totals near 1 inch and a few hundredths of an inch of ice. Bridges and overpasses will be especially vulnerable to icing.
Another Winter Weather Advisory will be in place from 8 PM Thursday to 6 AM CST Friday for Cumberland and Fentress counties, extending into Overton, Putnam, and White counties. Snow amounts up to 1 inch and light icing are again possible, creating slippery travel conditions overnight. Officials urge drivers across all affected counties to use caution and be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions.
