Burton L. Capps, 66

Burton L. Capps age 66 of Spring City Tennessee died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in Athens Tennessee.

Burton was born May 30, 1959 in Byrdstown, Tennessee. He attended Pickett County High School and after graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force serving 4 years. Burton graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 1988. He was employed by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency as a game warden for 29 years. He enjoyed reading novels.

Burton is preceded in death by his wife Perri Lynn Capps and his father Robert “Red” Capps. Survivors include his mother, Glee (Elder) Capps of Byrdstown, Tennessee. His children Robert (Valerie) Capps of Cleveland Tennessee, James (Lindsay) Capps of Rockwood Tennessee, brothers Bill (Janie) Capps of Monterey Tennessee, Frank (Darlene) Capps of Byrdstown Tennessee and John Capps of Byrdstown Tennessee and grandchildren Audra Capps, Adelynn Capps, Tucker Capps and Carson Kilby

A Gathering of Friends will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at Wolf Creek Baptist Church. Burton’s ashes will be buried next to his wife at Cope Cemetery in Byrdstown Tennessee at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude https://www.stjude.org/ in Burton’s memory.
