NASCAR CHAMPION GREG BIFFLE AND FAMILY AMONG SEVEN KILLED IN PLANE CRASH

On December 18, 2025, a private Cessna C550 business jet owned by former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle crashed while attempting to land at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina, resulting in the deaths of all seven people on board.
Authorities from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed the fatalities, noting that a post-crash fire complicated immediate identifications, but stated that Biffle, aged 55, and his immediate family were believed to be among the victims. Close friend Garrett Mitchell, known as YouTuber Cleetus McFarland, publicly confirmed that Biffle, his wife Cristina (whom he married in 2022), their 5-year-old son Ryder, and Biffle’s 14-year-old daughter Emma from a previous marriage were on the plane, as they were en route to visit him.
North Carolina Congressman Richard Hudson, a family friend, also mourned the loss of Biffle and his family, praising them for their philanthropy and Biffle’s recent efforts flying relief missions after Hurricane Helene. A nearby witness reported seeing the plane flying unusually low before the crash, amid inclement weather that reduced visibility. The FAA and NTSB are investigating the incident.
