Scam Alert: Fake Verizon Invoices by Mail 
The Oak Ridge Police Department is warning residents about a new mail scam circulating in our community. Several residents have reported receiving fraudulent invoices claiming to be from Verizon, requesting payment for services that were never ordered or owed.
– The letters appear official and may include logos, account numbers, or payment instructions.
– These invoices are NOT legitimate.
– Do not send payment or provide personal information.
– Never pay a bill you were not expecting.
– Do not call phone numbers or scan QR codes listed on suspicious mail.
– Verify your account directly by contacting Verizon using the phone number on your official bill or website.
– Shred suspicious mail to prevent identity theft.
– If you believe you’ve received a scam or may have been impacted, contact the Oak Ridge Police Department at (865) 425-4399 (non-emergency).
– You can also report scams to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) at www.bbb.org/scamtracker.
