CROSSVILLE ALLEGED BURGLARY SUSPECT CAUGHT WITH STOLEN LAPTOP AFTER K9 TRACKS HIM HOME
On January 9, 2026, at around 3:41 a.m., Officer Amy Sherrill responded to an audible alarm at A-Z Custom Cabinets on Highway 70 East in Crossville. While en route, Sgt. Karlsven spotted a man in a blue hoodie carrying a silver laptop near Rockwood Avenue and Highway 70 East. The individual was identified as Dustin Fellbaum, who had visible scratches and blood on his hands and hoodie; he claimed the injuries were from his cat. Upon arriving at the business, Officer Sherrill observed a broken front window with a large rock inside the frame used to smash the glass, a displaced cabinet piece on the floor, and an empty spot on an office desk where a laptop had been. An open Amazon package addressed to the owner was found outside.
The owner confirmed that a silver Lenovo IdeaPad laptop (valued at about $780) should have been on the desk. A K9 unit tracked Fellbaum’s scent from the initial sighting to his nearby apartment at Dawn Court, Apartment 17. There, officers found the laptop, which powered on and displayed the owner’s name, “Mike.” Fellbaum claimed it was an old, unused device of his own. He was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
The bloody hoodie was collected as evidence, and the laptop and charger were returned to the owner, who identified them as his property. The owner estimated $500 in window damage and $250 for the broken cabinet; he was unsure about the Amazon package contents due to access issues with his account.
After Mirandizing Fellbaum in jail, he denied taking or opening any packages, admitting only to entering through the window and stealing the laptop. Warrants were signed for burglary, vandalism, and theft of property.
