CROSSVILLE WOMAN CHARGED WITH EVADING ARREST AFTER CHASE IN STOLEN VEHICLE

On January 17, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office in Crossville were dispatched to the area near Cumberland Medical Center regarding a report of a stolen silver and blue Chevy Trail Blazer.

While patrolling, Deputy James Curry spotted the vehicle matching that description running a red light at a high speed on North Main Street. After activating emergency lights and sirens, the driver failed to stop and continued fleeing, weaving through traffic.

The pursuit proceeded onto Miller Avenue, where Crossville City Police deployed stop sticks, successfully deflating the front driver’s side tire. The vehicle then turned onto Lantana Road outbound but slowed due to the damage. Officers from both agencies boxed it in with their patrol cars, forcing it to stop. During a felony stop, the driver, identified as 46-year-old Kristy Leigh Jaynes (white female, resident of Crossville), refused commands to exit the vehicle.

Officers broke the driver’s side window, unlocked the door, and removed her with minimal force before placing her in handcuffs. She was transported to the Cumberland County Jail by Crossville City Police.

Jaynes was charged with evading arrest, a Class E felony (or similar classification as indicated). A warrant was signed, and she was served while in intake.

A court date is set for February 23, 2026, with bond set at $80,000.
