TWO TRAILERS STOLEN FROM CROSSVILLE HOMES
Crossville Police units responded to two separate utility trailer thefts occurring under similar circumstances.
On January 21, Officer Matt Charlock investigated a report at Valley Lane. The complainant discovered his black 4×8 single-axle trailer, valued at approximately $1,200, missing around 09:00 hrs after last seeing it the previous evening at 18:00 hrs. Because the value exceeded $1,000, the incident was classified as a felony theft, prompting notification of Detective Lorenz.
However, due to a lack of video surveillance, suspects, or a VIN/tag number, the trailer could not be entered into NCIC. As a result, an extra nighttime patrol was established for the residence for two weeks.
Two days later, on January 23, Officer Keith Sadula responded to Sunshine Dr. to meet with a man who reported his 6.5×10 foot trailer missing from his driveway. The owner noted the trailer, which featured a spare tire and a 5-foot gate, was present at 19:30 hrs the night before but gone by 08:30 hrs that morning.
Valued at $950, this trailer was successfully entered into NCIC, though no video footage of the theft was available.
