LAWSON ROAD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY CLOSED FOR BRIDGE WORK AND PAVING
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Beginning Monday, February 2, 2026, Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will implement a temporary closure of Lawson Road, as part of the bridge construction and paving project on SR 28 (US 127) from north of I-40 to near Potato Farm Road. This closure is necessary to install a new drainage pipe and realign Lawson Road.
Details:
- The existing corrugated metal pipe will be removed and replaced with a 43-foot by 48-inch reinforced concrete pipe.
- Work is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
Traffic Impacts:
- Lawson Road south of the work area will remain open to local traffic for access to Cline Road.
- Lawson Road north of the closure will be accessed via a detour using South Tabor Loop Road.
- Detour signage will be posted to guide motorists safely through the area.
This project is scheduled for completion in Fall 2026.
