DANDRIDGE WOMAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ARSON

On Wednesday, February 4,2026 at approximately 12:59 pm Deputies and Firemen from the Chestnut Hill Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Collier Loop Rd in Dandridge. At 13:05 pm the first deputy and firefighter arrived on scene and found a single story residence with heavy fire.
Deputies spoke with the home owner who stated he was assaulted by a female and she had pinned him on the bedroom floor and took something from her pocket and set the bed on fire. The assailant then fled the residence. The 84 year old victim was able to evacuate the residence however, not before suffering burns and injuries from the assault. The victim was transported to JMHER and later transferred to UTER Deputies located the suspect at a nearby home where she was detained.
Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and following a brief investigation arrested Cynthia Gail Banks age 64 for Aggravated Domestic Assault, Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Arson, and violation of a no contact ordered that was issued following another Domestic Violence charge over the weekend.
Banks is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center with no bond.
