MONTEREY POLICE OFFICER GOES VIRAL AFTER “RAPID TACTICAL DESCENT”

The Monterey Police Department in Tennessee shared a humorous viral video over Super Bowl weekend featuring Sgt. Bennett executing what they jokingly described as a “highly advanced training maneuver” called the “Rapid Tactical Descent.” In reality, the footage captured the sergeant taking a dramatic tumble off a resident’s porch, leading him to repeatedly say, “Yep I’m done. I broke my leg.”
The department playfully reported in an official statement from Chief Mackie that the porch emerged unscathed from the “unscheduled structural integrity test,” Sgt. Bennett’s pride did not survive, and gravity remained undefeated, while assuring residents that no porches were harmed and that officers are now fully prepared for unexpected elevation changes.
Follow-up posts, including body-cam perspective footage, added to the comedy by mentioning a “suspicious flamingo,” an uncooperative flower garden, and a misplaced garden gnome during the incident. Although Bennett initially feared a broken leg, updates confirmed it was not actually broken—though his pride certainly was—and he quickly returned to duty without light restrictions.
The original post garnered over 28 million views on Facebook, prompting fans to send him a collection of little flamingo toys.
