CROSSVILLE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES $110,000 AMENDMENT FOR MEADOW PARK LAKE EXPANSION
The City of Crossville’s council meeting in February 2026 began with a prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance presented by young Marines.
Public comments featured an invitation for council members to attend a meet-and-greet with Representative Monty Fritts at Shoney’s on February 27. Appointments reappointed Tracy Barnes and Rob Patton to six-year terms on the Crossville Sports Authority. The consent agenda (items 5A through J) was approved, with item 5K pulled for separate discussion.
The main focus, regarding item 5K, was approval of Contract Amendment Number 6 for the Meadow Park Lake Expansion. This amendment involved a total of $110,000: $10,000 to the attorney and $100,000 to the engineering firm Wauford & Associates, involved in the project. The funds support advancing the permitting process and related tasks, with this amount not previously budgeted, necessitating the amendment. A council member sought clarification on the dollar amount and implications, confirming it does not lock the city into further commitments beyond this allocation.
An amendment to the motion was proposed and accepted to include a preliminary rate study (estimated at $5,000–$6,000) within the scope of the $100,000 portion, performed on an hourly basis by the consultant. The council approved the amended item unanimously after discussion, ensuring the preliminary rate study was covered without additional commitments at this stage.
