TORNADO WATCH ISSUED FOR MIDDLE TN

A tornado watch has been issued for several counties in Tennessee as severe weather moves across the region tonight.

The first tornado watch is in effect from 8:22 p.m. CDT Sunday, March 15, until 3:00 a.m. CDT Monday, March 16, for Cumberland, Pickett, and Fentress counties. A second tornado watch is in effect from 9:24 p.m. EDT Sunday until 4:00 a.m. EDT Monday for Morgan, Rhea, Meigs, and Bledsoe counties.

According to forecasters, conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing a couple of strong tornadoes. Widespread damaging wind gusts up to 80 miles per hour are also likely, and isolated hail up to half an inch in diameter is possible.

The tornado watch also includes parts of Alabama and Georgia and remains in effect until 3:00 a.m. CDT.
