HIGH SPEED CHASE STARTING IN RHEA COUNTY ENDS IN ROANE COUNTY
A high-speed vehicle pursuit late last night, starting in Rhea County, ended with an arrest in Roane County.
Rockwood police officers encountered the vehicle in question after the suspect entered the city. The suspect continued to drive towards Kingston on Highway 70, where their officers joined the chase.
The driver, 32-year-old Vincent E. Ellis of Knoxville, turned onto Sugar Grove Valley Road and struck a patrol vehicle. An officer performed a “precision immobilization technique” maneuver that caused Ellis to stop. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Ellis was charged with DUI, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, and felony evading arrest. He is facing additional charges by other agencies.
