HIGH-SPEED CHASE ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY RESULTS IN DRUG CHARGES
A recent high-speed pursuit in Cumberland County resulted in drug charges for the driver.
While on patrol, a Crossville police officer observed a male leaning over in a Nissan Sentra in the area of the Circle K gas station just north of I-40 on Highway 127. A check of the suspects’ licence plate revealed a different automobile.
Officers say 45-year-old Joseph Anderson of Antioch, Tennessee, leaned up, started his car, and drove off after noticing police.
The arrest report states that while being pursued, Anderson allegedly threw out a large, clear bag with a white substance in it. It was later recovered, containing 18 grams of suspected meth.
Anderson drove at speeds up to 100 miles an hour before being stopped at the 328-mile marker near Crab Orchard.
A probable cause search was done on the vehicle Anderson was driving. Officers reportedly found a bag containing just over 12 grams of fentanyl, a digital scale, marijuana, and pills.
Anderson was arrested for manufacture, delivery, sell, or possessing meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, and evading arrest.
