GRANDVIEW FIREFIGHTERS QUICKLY CONTAIN BRUSH FIRE THANKS TO FAST RESPONSE AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT

On April 9, 2026, firefighters from Grandview Station 720 and the main station responded to a brush fire that had gotten out of control. The fire started when a homeowner’s lawnmower malfunctioned while mowing, igniting a leaf pile that quickly spread into a nearby wooded area. Although brush fires of this type are relatively common and usually minor in the fire service, this one remained small and manageable thanks to the homeowner’s quick 911 call with accurate information and the firefighters’ rapid response, training, and hard work. The crew successfully contained the fire within just 15 minutes of arriving on scene.

Captain Mason Dye posted the update to express gratitude to everyone involved. He thanked the citizen for calling promptly, the firefighters for their dedication and sacrifice, and the community members who support the department through donations and involvement. He acknowledged ongoing challenges such as limited funding and manpower, but emphasized that community backing allows the department to continue protecting residents with the resources they have. Captain Dye extended special thanks to his crew at Station 720, the full-time firefighters at the main station, and all firefighters across the county, noting that without their service there would be no fire department.

He encouraged everyone to come out and support their local firefighters by attending the fundraiser breakfast on Saturday, April 18th, from 7 to 10 a.m. EST at the Grandview Community Center.
