ROCKWOOD FIRE DEPARTMENT RESCUES DOG FROM HOUSE FIRE, REUNITES WITH OWNER
On April 10th at 9:44 PM, the Rockwood Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the corner of Tarwater Street and Lakemont Heights. Upon arrival, crews found a single-family home that was 40-50% involved in flames. The lone occupant on scene had already safely exited the house and informed firefighters that two dogs were still inside.
A quick search of the unburned portions of the home located one dog alive but suffering from smoke inhalation. Firefighters administered oxygen using a pet mask, and the dog recovered well with no apparent lasting effects. The owner and dog were happily reunited at the scene. Fortunately, the second dog had managed to escape on its own but ran off and could not be located during the incident.
The department was assisted by Rockwood Police, Rockwood Animal Control, Harriman Fire Department (through automatic aid), Roane County EMS, and Rockwood Electric Utility. They expressed thanks to all neighboring agencies for their teamwork in helping achieve the best possible outcome for this emergency.
